From: Special Report - The PRIMARY reason for a successful committed relationship and its influence on Long Term Care Insurance
EMPATHY
Many relationship experts stress that the most important factor in a couples communication skills is having EMPATHY. Our ability to put ourselves in our partner's "shoes" frequently dictates the lifelong success of our relationship.
Long term marriages were the focus of an article recently in Psychology Today Magazine. The value of empathy was identified as the single most critical factor in the success of committed relationships.
Therefore, isn't it safe to assume that to successfully deal with married couples, empathy needs to be present? If empathy isn't present early in a marriage, it becomes more necessary later on. Consider that the aging process is naturally accompanied by the loss of mental capacity, frailty, dementia, financial issues, and the death of loved ones. When the man of the house has empathy for his wife, it should include the effects on her of not owning long term care insurance.
